On Monday, January 19, 2026, Department of Rail Transport (DRT) together with Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute ASEAN-India Regional Office (JTTRI-AIRO) had held The 2nd Japan-Thailand Railway Workshop in the theme of ~Decarbonization in the Railway Sector~ at DRT meeting room on 2nd floor. The workshop served as a platform for policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from Thailand and Japan to exchange views and share experiences on policies, technologies, and practical approaches aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the railway sector. The discussions focused on promoting sustainable railway development and strengthening bilateral cooperation toward a low-carbon transport future.
Speakers from both countries shared insights on policy frameworks, technological innovations, and practical implementation experiences, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in advancing sustainable transport. The workshop also provided an opportunity for participants to engage in interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session, fostering deeper understanding and mutual learning. The event reaffirmed the strong partnership between Thailand and Japan in the field of railway development and demonstrated a shared commitment to promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable transport systems. DRT and JTTRI-AIRO expressed their intention to continue close collaboration through future workshops and research activities, contributing to the advancement of low-carbon railway systems and sustainable mobility in the region.
