Meeting with Dr.Eng. KATO Hironori, Professor Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Tokyo
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Dr. Eng. KATO Hironori, Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Tokyo and Senior Advisor for Research at JTTRI, visited AIRO for an exchange meeting on the current situation of regional transport and logistics. The meeting also aimed to obtain academic perspectives and expert insights in preparation for the upcoming AIRO Research Report.
JTTRI-AIRO had the honor of meeting with Kato Hironori, Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Tokyo, to consult on the development of presentation guidelines for the upcoming AIRO Research Report event. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on effective approaches to presenting research outcomes in the fields of railways, tourism, logistics and public transportation. Prof. Kato provided valuable insights on structuring presentations to clearly communicate policy relevance, analytical frameworks, and practical implications for stakeholders. The discussion also emphasized the importance of linking research findings to real-world applications, particularly in addressing current challenges such as improving regional accessibility, enhancing transport connectivity for tourism, and promoting sustainable mobility solutions. JTTRI-AIRO greatly appreciates Prof. Kato’s expert guidance and looks forward to applying these insights to ensure the success of the upcoming research report event, as well as to further strengthen collaboration in the field of transport and tourism research.
