The latest activities by JTTRI-AIRO, such as conducting research, holding seminars and collaborating parties in the field of transport and tourism.

On Friday, August 25, 2026, Mr. SHIROKI Takeshi Executive Director, Mr. TAKAGI Susumu Senior Director and Dr. TAKESHITA Hiroyuki Research Fellow had meeting with Prof. Saksith CHALERMPONG, Ph.D. Director of Chulalongkorn University Transportation Institute (CUTI), Dr. Phathinan THAITHATKUL, Ph.D. Principal Research Fellow (AR-3 Board), Ornicha ANUCHITCHANCHAI, Ph.D. Senior Research Fellow, Ali ANJOMSHOAE, Ph.D. Research Fellow, and Dr. UCHIYAMA Yosuke, Research Fellow of CUTI. Following the successful 1st Thailand–Japan Regional Public Transport Workshop AIRO and CUTI discussed in more cooperation the possibility of organizing a 2nd workshop.

During the meeting, JTTRI-AIRO and CUTI exchanged views on transportation of secondary cities and provincial areas, for example the role of public transport in supporting tourism development. JTTRI share the importance of local leadership, resources, and improved transport connectivity in promoting tourism in secondary cities. JTTRI-AIRO also shared its experiences from the Thailand–Japan Tourism Working Group and Indonesia logistics seminar as potential references.
